How Fanvue Stays Safe: Privacy and Security Explained

When you sign up on any online platform, you face risks.

Creators may worry about whether the money they earn will actually reach them, or if someone can steal their content without any consequences. And fans may be concerned about whether their card details are safe, or whether the influencer they follow is actually who they say they’re.

So it’s no surprise that one of the main search queries that keeps coming up is: “Is Fanvue Safe?”

The answer is inherent in our approach to user security. Our guiding principle is “what’s the right thing to do?”, and not simply “what do we have to do?”. This has helped us build a robust security infrastructure that keeps evolving as new technologies emerge. Read about the systems we’ve built to protect you.

But this is a fight we can’t win alone. Our Head of Trust and Safety, Rob Haywood, recommends steps you can take to protect yourself.

How Fanvue Protects You

Our security systems are built to identify and tackle financial fraud, identity and privacy risks, AI threats, and more.

Your money

One question we hear often from creators is whether the money you make on Fanvue will actually get credited to your bank account. The answer is that we start taking steps right from the time you sign up to make sure all authorized payments are correctly processed.

When you make an account as a creator, you complete a “Know Your Customer” (KYC) process, for which you need a valid government-issued ID. You could fail KYC if you submit documents that don’t meet our internal standards. If you’re having issues with identity verification, you can find guidance on our Help Center.

You also can’t create more than one creator account, unless in exceptional cases.

These ensure your earnings remain tied to your primary account.

Once you start earning, the money hits your pending balance first. This is when we run the payments you’ve received through security checks to make sure they’re legitimate and deduct any platform fees.

“We can't just, sort of, pay out instantly, because we're doing all these necessary fraud checks, where we're making sure the money isn't being refunded, or that it's not on stolen credit cards. All of this due diligence work.” - Rob Haywood

Once the money clears our checks, it moves to your available balance that you can withdraw.

You need to meet a few criteria, like uploading a minimum number of content pieces, before you can request a payout.

And when you add a new payment method, we sometimes run a short security check before approving the channel, so that the money reaches you safely, on time.

All these precautions help keep our payment process as robust as possible.

For more on how payments work on Fanvue, take a look at How to receive a payout on Fanvue, Pending vs Available Balance, and Payout methods available on Fanvue.

On the fan side, Rob says a common challenge is:

“People who subscribe to a creator or buy new content and then it turns out to not be what they're expecting to get.”

So we take steps to make sure content is appropriately labelled.

We also protect your financial information. If you’re making payments on Fanvue, the transactions are handled by regulated payment processors under PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). These processors meet globally accepted standards for processing financial data securely.

For example, your card data remains encrypted, and sensitive information like CVVs and PINs aren’t saved anywhere.

Card details aren’t stored on the Fanvue network at all, and they aren’t accessible to any user on the platform.

Your identity and data

Fanvue stores only what's legally required or what we need to run your account: your name, date of birth, email address, basic payment payment details, and any verification documents you’ve provided.

We keep this information while your account is active, and for as long afterward as tax and audit rules require it. You can ask to see or correct it or have it deleted at any time.

We share your information only with approved partners, only when needed, like payment processors, KYC processors, and legal authorities. In some cases, we share data with marketing platforms, but only if we have your consent.

Fanvue requires users to be 18 or above. Depending on where you live, you may undergo an age estimation process, where you may not need to provide detailed identity documents. If you stay in specific countries, you may need to go through age verification

Our age checks are processed by approved third parties, and we store only the minimum data needed, like whether a user has passed the verification check. Currently, we’re working with Ondato, a leading identity verification solution provider, for age checks.

We're currently in conversation with partners about alternative ways to verify age, where you may not need to provide any information other than your email or phone details. Whether and where these features become available will depend on what each country's laws allow.

Harmful content and moderation

We combine the speed of automation with the discretion of human judgment to make sure harmful content, and only harmful content, is kept off Fanvue.

Automated tools scan every piece of content, including profile photos, banners, and intro videos, before it’s published, and then again after it goes live. These tools flag nudity and explicit acts, weapons, drugs, violence, and abuse, among other things. They also estimate the age of anyone who appears in pictures and videos.

For this, we use Hive, a third-party moderation tool. Hive scans images and videos for unauthorized content and screens text for specific keywords and phrases.

In 2026, we also partnered with the Southwest Grid for Learning (SWGfL), a UK charity that provides StopNCII as a service to prevent non-consensual intimate images from being shared.

“For certain things, particularly really severe illegal content or things along those lines, it's removed immediately and the user is banned, and that's automatic.”

But when these tools identify content “that’s more contextual or requires deeper dives,” says Rob, it gets hidden from view and goes to human moderators, usually more than one. Depending on the case, the moderators may delete it or reach out to the user for clarification.

We also run random spot checks manually based on various factors, including past account behavior.

The challenge with content moderation is the large gray area surrounding it, says Rob.

"Every day, there’s new content that somehow you've never seen before or that kind of sits right on that line."

And when something harmful appears that our rules haven't covered yet, we take it down and update our policy.

However, we’re also aware that not everything that’s unfamiliar is a problem.

"If there's stuff that's inventive and a little bit on the line, but we're not quite sure that it's really prohibited, we will sometimes try to let that go and then see, over time, check back in, see if it's creating harm.”

This lets us keep our content policies up to date with the latest developments in the creator economy.

AI-generated content and personas

Fanvue supports creators with multiple AI tools, including AI voice calls, AI message responders, and AI agents

However, this technology has made a few problems worse. Impersonation, fraud, and producing non-consensual images is all easier than they were a few years ago.

That's why we've tightened our AI disclosure rules. Every creator who posts AI content must disclose it prominently, which can include:

  • A watermark on the content piece itself
  • A caption on the post
  • A statement on their bio

We also limit the kind of content that can be produced using AI. For example, creators can’t use it to create deepfakes or prohibited content like hate speech and fake news.

Importantly, our age restrictions apply to AI content. Any media created using AI must not include likenesses of children under 18.

Enforcement action on Fanvue

Rob says the biggest reasons the safety team takes action against users are if they’re “being deceptive or promising things they're not delivering.”

Depending on the severity of the breach, Fanvue may:

  • Issue warnings
  • Remove content
  • Revoke balance for creators or fans
  • Suspend accounts
  • Permanent ban

For every action that affects your account, you can raise an appeal by writing to support@fanvue.com.

Safety as Fanvue grows

As the Fanvue App Store grows and third-party apps start changing how parts of the platform work, the trust and safety team is updating how it works. The team will review every app before it goes live to make sure no new upload weakens any existing protections on the platform.

Over the past year, we've also reworked our community guidelines so they’re clearer about what is and isn't allowed, and why.

None of this is a set-and-forget type of work, though. As Rob puts it,

"There’s always going to be more to do because it's just the nature of the industry."

Which is why safety at Fanvue keeps evolving with developments on the platform and in the wider world of technology and security.

Still, there's a limit to what any platform can do alone, and the rest comes down to the choices you make with the tools available to you.

How You Protect Yourself

You have more control here than you might think, and a few small decisions on your end can add a second layer of protection.

Report what looks wrong

Despite our protections, if you still see content that you feel is wrong or that breaks the rules, report the post or account. Some examples include:

  • Content that should be labelled as AI-generated but isn’t
  • Someone who’s impersonating somebody else, or an account using content that belongs to another creator
  • Messages that are abusive or threatening

You can also contact support directly by using the live support function on the platform or sending a message to support@fanvue.com if it's something specific to you, like a payment that didn't go through the way it should have or a dispute with a creator you can't resolve by yourselves. You don’t need to be a user to raise a complaint.

Appeal wrong outcomes

At Fanvue, we have mechanisms in place to make sure there's always a fair way to sort things out.

Whether you're a creator or a fan, if you think we made the wrong decision about you or your account, you can raise an appeal by writing to support@fanvue.com. We review every appeal in good faith.

For more information about how enforcement and appeals work, take a look at our Complaints Policy and our Content Moderation and Protection Policy.

Turn on 2FA

Rob has one piece of advice for every creator and fan on Fanvue: turn on two-factor authentication, or 2FA.

With 2FA, you need more than a password to log in to your account: usually a code that you receive on your email, SMS, or an authenticator app. So even if your password gets stolen, it’s not enough for someone else to get into your account.

If you haven't turned it on yet, you can set up 2FA via your account settings. It only takes about a minute.

Protect your content as a creator

If you're creating on Fanvue, your content is an integral part of your income, so do what you can to protect it from theft and copyright infringement.

  • Watermarking is one of the easiest protective steps, and Fanvue gives you the tools to do it.
  • Be intentional about whom you sell your content to. Rob's advice is to vet your fans. There’s a difference between an account that appeared yesterday and a subscriber who's been supporting you and interacting with you for months. It’s safer to sell your most exclusive content to fans who engage with you in a genuine way.
  • Use the platform’s built-in features to protect your media, including right-click prevention and screenshot detection.

Let’s Make Fanvue Safe for Everyone

Fanvue is safe because of the systems we've built and because of the choices the people on it make every day.

Creators trust Fanvue with their content and earnings. Fans trust creators to deliver what they pay for. And both trust Fanvue to protect their accounts, payments, privacy, and experience on the platform.

We’ll keep investing in the systems that protect that trust. And by using the platform responsibly, you can help make Fanvue safer for everyone.
